Print-A-Party!: Party Decorations on the Cheap!

December 13, 2012 by Decorum DIYer

In prepping for Claire’s party, I have spent $0.00 on party decorations.

Thanks to my trusty printer, standard household and craft supplies, and the wonderful world of free printables, I am decorating Claire’s “Gingerbread House” party for zero clams!

As I have mentioned in a previous post, I don’t like to go overboard with children’s parties.  This is especially true with decorations.  I love a good, themed party, but feel guilty about the cost and wastefulness.  Below are the free printables I found online that I am using for our party.  Although I am hosting a “Gingerbread ‘House’ Party”, the theme colors are red, ‘hot’ pink (Claire’s favorite), and aqua.

Mini-party hats:

These are not standard party hats, but I love the diminutive size. I just need to add pom poms (which I already have), and ribbon (which I also have).

Paper Gingerbread Houses:

So many color combinations from which to choose.

Place cards:

There are many items available, but I only used the place cards.

Gingerbread ‘Persons’:

I plan to use these strung together as garland along the fireplace mantel.

So, that is where I am in my party preparations.  I have “miles to go before I sleep”.  I swear the cleaning is never-ending in my home.  I can’t wait until 3:00 p.m. Sunday when this party is done.  Of course, it is all worth it to me, as I will see my little girl enjoy celebrating her birthday with beloved family and friends.

  1. Way to go on finding FREE decor. You’re about as nifty-thrifty as they come! It really is amazing all of the resources that are out there if we just take the time to dig around to find them.

My Mom shared your philosophy of not going overboard with kid parties. She was all about the themes, but always made our invitations by hand and decorated simply (mostly with streamers). I have such fond memories of my birthdays past and in the future, hope to emulate the same sense of festivity without going over-the-top.

Can’t wait to hear about how the party goes!

  2. […] Cheap, but cute, gingerbread themed/red, pink, and aqua party decorations […]
